Project Description |
The Edfu Water Supply and Sanitary Drainage was initiated by an Agreement between the governments of the ARE and Denmark dated November 1990. The Development objective of the project is “Improved health and living conditions for the population in Edfu Medina and Markaz”. The project comprises the following elements:- 1. A major expansion of the existing urban water supply which serves Edfu Medina and six sub-village. Treatment Works: Using four 800 mm dia pipe intake followed by four pumps 70 l/sec, followed by conventional treatment works capacity (300 l/sec.) consists of pre-chlorination flush mixing, flocculation, vertical flow sedimentation, rapid gravity sand filters and final chlorination. Treatment Work Storage and Distributions: Aground level tank of 4500 m3 and an elevated tank of 1500 m3 are provided in the first phase (up to year 2010) – and approximately 12 km of 200-350 mm dia P.V.C. main lines. 2. New piped water supplies to three rural villages. (El Riqaqine, Geziret El Fawza and Nag El Arab). A compact unit treatment works for El-Riqaqine 100 m3/h and ground water boreholes at Geziret El-Fawza and Nag El-Arab. 3. A New sewerage scheme serving Edfu Medina. Gravity sewage network connected to four pumping stations. P.S. No. I (100 l/sec.), P.S. No. II (65 l/sec.), and main P.S. No. III (220 l/sec.), pumped to sewage treatment works. (stabilization pond system) with anaerobic pond (6000 m2), facultative pond (89100 m2) |

Project Description |
The project aim at serving Ma’abar City and five neighboring communities with potable water supply and wastewater projects, as well as construction of a storm water drainage system up to year 2020. It comprised:· 1- Potable Water Supply Project - Construction of10 production wells. - Construction of 4000 cu. m.. capacity R.C... groundwater reservoir with chlorination plant and the associated systems. - 55 km. Of (D.I. & UPVC) transmission and distribution pipelines. 2- Sanitary Drainage Project - Construction of 20 km. Sewerage system. - 5000 cu.m3/ day oxidation pond wastewater treatment plant composed of wastewater pumping station, oxidation pond, irrigation pumping station as well as the ancillary buildings and the associated system with the entire plant. 3- Storm Water Drainage System - Construction of R.C./ block work two vents/ one vent box channel of 27 km. Length and size 1.5 x 1.0 m. along with the connected rain gutters, box culverts and earth channel. |

Project Description |
The developers aim was to treat the row sewage drained from Sana'a City with average flow of 50000 m3/ day (500 mg/ lit BOD, 750 mg/ lit suspended solids and 100 mm/ lit ammonia) to cover the increased demand till year 2005 by construction of extended Aeration sewage treatment plant. The Project Comprised: 1- Reinforced concrete inlet pumping station to receive daily flow of 50000 m3 with 2 No. mechanical screens and 1 No. hand raked screen and 4 Nos. screw pumps. 2- Two Nos. detritors units fixed to reinforced concrete detritors' structure. 3- 97000 m3 capacity reinforced concrete aeration tanks composed of 8 Nos. independent tanks, 32 aerators units plus 8 Nos. mixers. 4- 8 Nos., 30 m. diameters circular reinforcement concrete settlement tanks, with electrical drive motor half bridge scrapers. 5- Chlorination plant equipped with chlorine booster pump set, gas chlorinators, chlorine residual analyzer …etc. 6- 4 Nos. 18 m. diameters circular reinforcement concrete sludge thickening tanks, with sludge bridge scraper, sludge pumps. 7- Effluent storage lagoon 200 000 m3 capacity made of earth bound and provided with an impermeable lining of polyethylene sheeting with irrigation outlet pipeline. 8- 12 Nos. sludge drying beds provided with sand/ gravel and piped under drains, along with reinforced concrete sludge storage slab to accommodate the sludge for 6 months. |

Project Description |
The project is constructed in three phases, the first phase capacity is 1,700,000 m3/day and the total capacity of the three phases is 3,000,000 m3/day. The first phase is constructed on an area of about 1.75 Km2. The plant comprises wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) and sludge treatment facilities (STP). Wastewater facilities include: inlet works pumping stations 10 screw pumps, screens, grit removal chambers, 24 primary sedimentation tanks (each of dia. 43 m.), 4 surface aeration tanks (each of dims. 150 x 100 m. & capacity 68000 m3), 24 final clarifier tanks (each of dia. 53 m.), disinfection, sludge pumping, compressor and boiler house, duel fuel generator house, administration buildings, primary distribution substation, workshops, storage areas, all water and wastewater facility networks (16 Km. force mains of dia. 300:500 mm.; 23 Km. length gravity mains of dia. 200:2000 mm.; 30 Km. length service networks of dia. 50:300 mm.) and service roads network. The sludge treatment facilities include: Thickeners, 30 digester tanks (each of dia. 30 m. & capacity 15000 m3), sludge dewatering house, gas holder and flair stack. The project comprises large green areas (100 fed.) with irrigation network. |

The integrated development project for villages in Sohag aims mainly at achieving a number of goals; First, to improve public utilities and services by implementing pavement of roads for 3,200,000 L.E., covering and retaining water channels sides for 1,000,000 L.E., implementation of potable water supply network and wells for 2,670,000 L.E., Repair and completion of public buildings (youth centers at schools) for 1,630,000 L.E. Second, to overcome the negative impact caused by the current status of utilities and provide better environmental conditions. And Third, to improve the social and economic status by providing a considerable number of temporary job opportunities employing intensive labor to execute the project in addition to permanent job opportunities for operation and maintenance. In addition to a sum of 500,000 were spent to satisfy minor social demands of the community and to complete a few elements of the different infrastructure projects. The Social Fund for Development projects are directed to improve life conditions and increase incomes of the low income habitants which would eventually lead to development of rural communities |

Project Description |
The project is mainly divided into two phases Phase I comprises: The identification and ranking of the Giza Governorate needs of rural development infrastructure projects in the sectors of water supply, wastewater, roads and environmental sanitation, through the analysis of available data collected from the concerned authorities and field surveys conducted on a random sample of local community members taking into consideration certain technical, environmental, social and financial criteria. Phase II comprises: First: Determination of the final list of selected projects proposed to be implemented by Giza Governorate covering its needs and fulfilling SFD regulations for financing development projects (mainly intensive labor projects). The list included the Upgrading of Potable Water Supply System in 7 markaz through the implementation of 33 sub-projects (pipelines extensions, wells drilling, and construction of elevated water tanks) and an Environmental Sanitation Project comprising 21 protection works along 8 canals. Second: Evaluation and ranking of the feasibility of implementation of the proposed list of projects based on technical, social, environmental and economical studies with the aim of achieving maximum benefits for the projects affected people. |

Project Description |
The project includes improvement works for six waterways (canals & drains) located in densely populated areas in the Governorate of Giza. The improvement works are intended to reduce the negative environmental impacts of the current status of these waterways on the surrounding environment, due to their misuse for waste disposal, thus safeguarding the health of people. The project will also assist in the upgrade of standards of living for the project affected people through the provision of 4700 (man-month) work opportunities during the execution phase. In addition to that, the project will have a positive impact on the economy of the served areas as some of these waterways lie on access roads to important antiquities sites. |

Project Description |
Pavement and improvement works for rural roads in Aswan and Governorates aim mainly at achieving a number of goals. Technically the project aims at improving and paving earth tracks of some villages located in different districts of Aswan Governorate, to overcome the negative impact of their current status on the environment. Socially, it aims at providing a considerable number of temporary job opportunities by using the intensive labor method in implementing the project in addition to permanent job opportunities for operation and maintenance works. The Social Fund for Development projects are directed to improve life conditions and increase incomes of the low income habitants which would eventually lead to development of rural communities. |
