Project Description |
The project area is located on the right side of Al-Markhania road linked to Al-Ain / Abu Dhabi road. It mainly comprises 10 roads of total length 3.94 km to serve for both vehicular and pedestrian traffic, and the adjacent parking areas. |

Project Description |
The project consists of the main building (total area 20 000 sq. m.) and the satellite (12 000 sq. m.), both serving five million passengers/year; connected to those are ancillary buildings: power plant, chlorination station, four bridges, fuel separators, fuel and water tanks, and tunnels. The project also includes all infrastructure facilities roads, water & wastewater networks and electricity networks. |

Scope |
The main services provided by the technical assistance staff during the project's period included: - Technical day-to-day advice in matters related to: design of roads executed by (DGR), technical meetings, claims committees, projects preliminary & final handovers and site inspection visits. - Review of other consultants road designs and tender documents prepared for the (DGR). - Review and update of Oman's Highway Design Standards - Preparation of annual Highway Maintenance Programs for (5038 Km) paved, (1611 Km) gravel and (13686 Km) maintained track road networks - Preparation of tender documents for road maintenance works and road consultancy studies (117 projects). - Preparation and implementation of computerized stores and purchasing systems - Preparation of comprehensive Highway safety study for the Sultanate - Preparation and implementation of a comprehensive and custom - made computerized Highway Maintenance Management systems (HMMS) comprising: * Pavement Management system (PMS) * Bridge and structures Management system (BMS) * Traffic Management system (TMS) * Equipment Management System (EMS) |

Project Description |
Provision of technical assistance services during the period July 1990 to December 1993 for Ministry of Communications - Directorate General of Roads (DGR)/or other Highway Departments in Sultanate of Oman. The project was financed through a loan agreement between the Government of the Sultanate of Oman and the World Bank. |
